AWS Cognito Front End vs Lambda Integration

Hello I want to use AWS Cognito to handle my application users signup,verification , login , authentication and authorization but Im not sure where should I perform the integration, in the mobile app or in my lambda functions . For example in the signup flow , is it better to create a signup lambda and use in it the aws sdk to integrate with cognito signup or should the mobile use the sdk to do so ?
