Data transfer out s3-cloudfront

0

There are 2 different accounts belonging to different customers. One of the customer has one cloudfront distribution in the account and another have s3 bucket. They have enabled cross account s3 access. Now , we know that data transfer out is free from s3 to CF. But will this be free even in case of resources belonging to different account?

For public commercial regions at least (I'm not sure for when accounts are across partitions, for example in GovCloud and China), the billing system tracks only that the destination is CloudFront, not the owner of the CloudFront distribution. Therefore, the S3 account owner will not be charged for data transfer to a distribution in another AWS account.

  • Just a clarification: it will be free only provided that both CloudFront distribution and S3 bucket are in the same AWS Region :)
