Yes, an error in the keystore could block both HTTP and HTTPS traffic, especially if the web server (e.g., Apache, Nginx) is misconfigured while trying to handle the keystore changes. This can happen if the server fails to start properly after altering the keystore, potentially blocking both protocols. However, the static IP itself is unlikely to be the cause unless there is a network misconfiguration or incorrect routing.
Ps: Even though HTTP itself doesn’t use SSL certificates, issues with the keystore or SSL/TLS configuration (like misconfigured redirects or web server binding) could indirectly cause both HTTP and HTTPS to be blocked.
Things to check:
- Ensure the web server is properly configured to listen on both port 80 (HTTP) and port 443 (HTTPS).
- Confirm that the Lightsail firewall allows traffic on both HTTP (port 80) and HTTPS (port 443).
- Review the web server logs to identify any errors related to the keystore or SSL configuration.
- Test connectivity with a tool like curl to check if both ports are accessible.
