AWS CloudWatch sql query not showing results

0

I'm using CloudWatch to monitor cpu_usage_system metric from CWagent. I'm plotting data that is more then 24h old. When using the regular CloudWatch browsing tab to view the data I see data points, when I do the same with CloudWatch SQL I do not.

Hello, and thanks for reaching out!

Currently, Metrics Insights only supports querying the most recent three hours of metric data. So in order to receive Metrics Insights query results, you'll have to select only the most recent 3 hours in the time frame selection.

I can confirm that there is an open feature request to allow for a larger time range for Metrics Insights queries. While I am unable to comment on when this feature may get released, you can keep an eye on our What's New and Blog pages for new feature announcements!

  • Hey Justin

    Thanks.

It could be nice if there where some kind of warning that says that the data is not available, or show the data but give a warning that it is aggregated. + In order to retain the data I used CloudWatch Streams to save the metrics to a s3 bucket. Currently I'm querying the data with Athena, but it would be nice with there was a feature to link the data back to CloudWatch.
