WorkSpaces Thin Client - AppStream support -- missing support for Amazon Linux stack/fleets?

1

I have an Amazon LInux AppStream stack/fleet for running 3D medical applications - and was excited to learn about the Amazon WorkSpaces Thin Client for deploying for AppStream stack usage.

Only after trying to set up a Thin Client, after not seeing my Stack in the environment setup, did the 'AppStream 2.0 required features' link show up to indicate that only Windows Server-based stacks/fleets were supported. Very disappointing that this wasn't highlighted in all the marketing and sales material for the Amazon WorkSpaces Thin Client...

Is full support for AppStream 2.0 services, including Amazon Linux-based stacks/fleets planned? What is the timeframe for that? Certainly for the universe of CAD/CAE/scientific visualization/medical/research fields, Linux support is essential.

Thanks in advance for your insights.

Hello! Thank you for your interest in Amazon WorkSpaces Thin Client.

You're correct that only Windows streaming desktops are currently supported. I've registered your post as a request to the service team, so that it can be considered for a feature request.

The operating system support is mentioned in the FAQ page and the prerequisites page for AppStream 2.0 which I suspect is the page that you found too late, but I will take the feedback that it could have been made clearer to the documentation team too.

Kind regards, Sabrina
