It is possible to downgrade the ActiveMQ engine version on Amazon MQ, even if the current version is going out of support. However, you may encounter issues when trying to revert to an older version.
To downgrade the ActiveMQ engine version, you can use the
update-broker
CLI command and specify the following parameters:
aws mq update-broker --broker-id <broker-id> --engine-version <version-number>
Replace
<broker-id>
with the unique ID of your Amazon MQ broker, and
<version-number>
with the desired engine version you want to downgrade to.
If you want the changes to take effect immediately, you can use the
reboot-broker
CLI command to reboot your broker:
aws mq reboot-broker --broker-id <broker-id>
If you do not want to reboot your broker immediately, Amazon MQ will upgrade the broker during the next scheduled maintenance window.
Please note that the specific versions of ActiveMQ supported by Amazon MQ may change over time. You can use the
describe-broker-instance-options
CLI command to list all the supported minor and major engine versions:
aws mq describe-broker-instance-options
You can further filter the results by engine type and instance type using the
--engine-type
and
--host-instance-type
options.
