While Amazon Bedrock Agents supports all foundation models available in Amazon Bedrock, not all models are currently optimized with fine-tuned prompts and parsers for the agents architecture.
Based on the available information, there is no specific timeline provided for when Claude 4 and Claude 4.5 will become optimized for Bedrock Agents. AWS has indicated that they plan to offer optimization for all models over time, but no concrete schedule has been shared publicly.
Recent developments show that AWS is actively expanding Bedrock Agents capabilities. The AgentCore framework has seen recent additions including enhanced Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol support for multi-agent coordination, expanded observability integrations, and new tools like Browser and Code Interpreter. These capabilities become available to agents as they launch.
Organizations building on Amazon Bedrock gain access to new model capabilities as they become available without requiring re-engineering or migration projects. This suggests that as newer Claude models become optimized for agents, existing implementations should be able to leverage them with minimal changes.
In the meantime, you can still use models that aren't yet optimized for agents by overriding prompts and parsers to extract better responses, as Amazon Bedrock provides this flexibility.
