can I set up DNS to route requests to an alternate subdomain with EC2?

0

I have a domain with 3 instances within EC2. I would like to create a subdomain that routes traffic to a specific IP, am I able to do that with EC2 or do I need to use Route53? I'm also using the ELB service but I don't think it has any DNS features.

Thanks,

c

Hi there!

Thank for posting your question here.

You can use Route 53 to create an A record that will point to that specific instance IP and You are correct, the ELB service is not a DNS service. Route 53 is the only DNS service available in AWS and Route 53 does support the creation of ALIAS records pointing to your load balancers.

I believe this answers you questions and concerns, and if not, then you are more than welcome for further engagement.
