AWS Organization Invitation Says ‘All Features Enabled’ – Shouldn’t It Be "Consolidated Billing Only"?

The invitation correctly states "all features enabled" if the organization that sent the invitation has indeed enabled all features in their AWS Organization.

AWS Organizations offers two feature sets:

1. Consolidated billing features only - This provides shared billing functionality but doesn't include advanced features like organizational policies or service integrations.

2. All features - This includes consolidated billing plus advanced account management capabilities, such as applying organizational policies that can restrict services and actions across member accounts.

The invitation you received indicates that the organization has "all features enabled," which means the management account would have the ability to apply policies that could restrict what users and administrators in your account can do, and potentially prevent your account from leaving the organization.

If your agreement with the billing partner was to only have consolidated billing functionality without the additional controls, you should clarify this with them before accepting the invitation. It's possible they have set up their organization with all features enabled rather than just consolidated billing.

When an organization invites an account, the invitation explicitly states which feature set is currently enabled in the organization - either "consolidated billing only" or "all features enabled." This ensures transparency about the level of control the management account will have over member accounts.
