How to set up the Amazon Q Developer Pro subscription for personal use?

0

I tried to set up Amazon Q Developer Pro Subscription for my personal use, but I am stuck. I have configured the IAM Identity center in ap-south-1 (Mumbai) region. I have created users and groups in the identity center. When I was trying to add the Groups or Users to the application, it doesnt show the users or groups. Please help.Enter image description here

  • As my IAM Admin user has the Pro subscription, under the users of IAM admin I can see that "XYZUser" has Q Pro access. But when I go to IAM IDC and click on users the click on "XYZUser", I can see only "QDefaultProfile" assigned under applications.

I apologize, but there seems to be an issue with your setup that's preventing you from adding users and groups to the Amazon Q Developer Pro application. Let me provide some guidance on how to resolve this:

  1. Region Support: First, it's important to note that Amazon Q Developer Pro is not supported in all regions. The ap-south-1 (Mumbai) region you've configured may not be supported for this service. Amazon Q Developer Pro can be set up in most IAM Identity Center regions, but there are some exclusions.

  2. Correct Setup: Ensure that you've followed all the prerequisite steps correctly. This includes setting up an AWS account, enabling IAM Identity Center, adding users to the IAM Identity Center instance, and obtaining the AWS access portal URL from the IAM Identity Center console.

  3. User/Group Addition: Remember that you can only add users or groups to the Amazon Q Developer Pro application if they have already been added to your Amazon Q Developer Pro profile. This is a crucial step that must be completed before you can see and select users or groups.

  4. Subscription Process: To set up the subscription correctly, sign in to the Amazon Q console, choose "Subscribe" under "Amazon Q Developer Pro," create an application, and then you should be able to assign users and groups.

  5. Region Change: If the issue persists, you might need to consider setting up IAM Identity Center in a supported region. The data for Amazon Q Developer Pro is always stored in a US region, regardless of where you set up IAM Identity Center.

  6. Support: If you've verified all these steps and still can't see your users or groups, it would be advisable to contact AWS support for further assistance.

Remember, for personal use, you might be using an account instance rather than an organization instance. Make sure you're following the correct setup process for your use case.

If you continue to face issues, double-check all the steps in the setup process and ensure you're using a supported region for Amazon Q Developer Pro.

Hello, The search bar doesn't currently auto-populate with users or groups. This feature appears to be under development. For now, please manually enter the name of the user or group for it to be populated.

Best regards, Nihar
