Quicksight - navigation Action with parameters doesn't update ALL the controls in the new tab

Hi there, I am experiencing a similar problem to that seen in the following post: https://repost.aws/questions/QUPWsGyb8wRNS8lojxfhkJmA/quicksight-navigation-action-with-parameters-doesn-t-update-the-controls-in-the-new-tab. I have watched the suggested video, which is helpful, but doesn't quite solve my issue.

So, I have summary tab that has two controls applied to the tab (controls: country and category). I have a pie chart which is 'document count by document type', and the parameters country and category are not in the chart. I have added these parameters to the chart as a 'drill-down layer', and then this allowed me to add the parameters to the navigation filter. However, when I used the navigation filter to navigate to a table in tab 2, the table was filtered by document type, but was not filtered by category or country.

I am experiencing this issue for every chart in my summary tab. The only way around this is in some instances is to add the country or category as a colour in my charts, but I want to add a different field as a colour. I feel like this is possible because I was able to do this in Tableau. It would be great to know what information I am missing.
