Bedrock service unavailable 80% of the time

0

We went live with our assistant using Bedrock Agent with Claude Sonnet 4.5 a few days ago.

  • On day 1 AWS had complete outage of Sonnet 4.5 in EU. Confirmed by AWS support
  • On day 2 a few users were lucky to get responses. Others received the same "service unavailable" message
  • On day 3 again complete outage.

The global inference profile seems to be a little more stable than the EU, but slower. We assume that the only real solution within AWS is to purchase provisioned throughput. However, only legacy Sonnet 3 is available in that option.

Are there any plans to support modern models for provisioned throughput? We see that us-west-2 has some more recent options like Sonnet 3.5 but still not the latest ones

Yes, correct, as of now, AWS has not officially announced support for provisioned throughput for Claude Sonnet 4.5 but some updates:

• AWS has acknowledged performance issues and is actively working with Anthropic to improve reliability. • The Bedrock team is exploring expanding provisioned throughput to newer models, but timelines remain unclear.
