Can I create an MQTT message that will be delivered only once?

Is it possible to send an MQTT message and have it only be delivered once, to one subscriber, even if there are multiple subscribers on the topic?

The situation I'm thinking of is when I have a cluster of servers on performing the same function. There is more than one server for purposes of redundancy and load balancing, but when a message is published to a topic, I only want one server to respond.
