I stop/started the EC2 instance a few times. It must have moved to a different host and resolved the issues.
we had similar issues with both of our ec2 instances that same day where our site was loading slooooow and all the metrics and logs and everything seemed perfect. I went through and rebooted everything possible (EC2, RDS, ElastiCache, etc) and it didn't help.
we had been meaning to update our two instances to a new image with newer stack versions so this accelerated that task and once we put two new instances in place we were fine again.
I'm pretty sure you have to stop an instance and then start it in order to get it to move to new hardware. I also seem to recall you may have to wait a couple minutes after stopping to be sure it picks up a new instance.
