I understand your concern about receiving an unexpected bill for $93, Robert. This is a common issue that many AWS users face, especially those who have been using the free tier or thought they had closed all their services. Here are some steps you can take to address this situation:

  1. First, check your AWS Billing Dashboard to see which services are incurring charges. This will help you identify any resources that may still be running.

  2. Go through each AWS service and region to ensure you've terminated or deleted all unused resources. Pay special attention to services like EC2 instances, EBS volumes, RDS databases, and Elastic IPs.

  3. If you're having trouble identifying or closing down specific resources, AWS provides documentation to help you check for and eliminate unnecessary charges.

  4. Since you've already received a bill, the best course of action is to contact AWS Support directly. You can do this by opening a billing support case through the AWS Support Center. Billing support is available for free to all AWS customers.

  5. When contacting support, explain your situation clearly. Mention that you thought you had closed all services and that you're surprised by the charges. AWS Support has the tools and visibility to investigate your specific account and may be able to provide more detailed information about the charges.

  6. In some cases, especially for new or student users, AWS may consider waiving the charges if it's clear that the usage was unintentional. However, this is at their discretion.

  7. For future reference, make sure to set up billing alerts and regularly check your usage to avoid unexpected charges.

Remember, even if you're not actively using AWS services, some resources may continue to incur charges if they're still running or provisioned. It's important to fully terminate or delete resources you're not using, not just stop them.

If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to AWS Support as they are best equipped to help with billing inquiries and can provide account-specific guidance.
