The AWS SDK for JavaScript v3 does indeed support a similar feature for cross-region access in Amazon S3, although it's implemented slightly differently than in the Java SDK.
In the JavaScript SDK v3, this functionality is called "region redirects" and can be enabled using the followRegionRedirects flag in the S3 client configuration. This feature allows the SDK to automatically retry requests with the correct region when it receives a PermanentRedirect error with a 301 status code.
To enable this feature, you would configure your S3 client like this:
import { S3Client } from "@aws-sdk/client-s3"; const s3Client = new S3Client({ region: "us-west-2", followRegionRedirects: true });
It's important to note that while this feature can be useful when you don't know the region of your bucket(s) ahead of time, it can result in additional latency. This is because failed requests are retried with the corrected region when receiving a PermanentRedirect error.
Therefore, it's generally recommended to specify the correct region for your S3 bucket when creating the client if you know it in advance. This approach would avoid the need for redirects and the associated latency.
Remember that in the AWS SDK for JavaScript v3, configuration is typically done at the service client level rather than globally, so you would need to set this option for each S3 client you create if you want to use it consistently across your application.

Hello.

S3 Global Client (Region Redirects)
S3 client in v3 supports S3 global client, or following region redirects, if an incorrect region is passed and a subsequent PermanentRedirect (status 301) error is thrown. You can use the followRegionRedirects flag in the client config to make the S3 client follow region redirects and support its function as a global client. Note that this can result in additional latency as failed requests are retried with a corrected region when receiving a PermanentRedirect error with status 301. This feature should only be used as a last resort if you do not know the region of your bucket(s) ahead of time.
