BUG REPORT: Can't delete EC2 Snapshots

1

I found a topic saying that AWS bugs should be reported here, so doing it.

We're paying 0.7cts a day for snapshots, and I'd like to reduce this to the minimum. BUt, when I go to the console, I see 30171 snapshots. That's huge, I don't understand how can I have so many. So I sort them to at least delete the biggest one.

I see that:

eg:

snap-0fc57f27e1eb05e19	500 GiB	–	Standard	Completed	2018/08/02 22:17 GMT+2

Enter image description here

Snapshot from 2018? The root account has been created in 2020, so it's not even possible. So I try to delete it, and now I have this message:

Failed to delete snapshot.
snap-0fc57f27e1eb05e19: The snapshot 'snap-0fc57f27e1eb05e19' does not exist.

Enter image description here

So I guess that's a bug, and we're paying for it. What should I do?

Hi there,

I am sorry to hear about this concern.

I would recommend reaching out to our Billing team so that they can look into this for you. You can reach out by creating a support case here: go.aws/support-center.

Ok so I did it. The problem was that "owned by me" in the drop down is selected when you reach the page, but the table shows by default the public ones. So I had to select again the "owned by me".
