GameLift support for Queue Notifications now available in General Availability

0

Today, we are excited to announce the general availability (GA) of Queue notifications for Amazon GameLift. With this new update, you as a game developer can now receive automatic notifications when changes take place to the status of your game session placement requests on GameLift.

Currently, if you are using Queues to handle game session placement as part of your game server backend, you must setup an API polling mechanism, which can lead to throttling during high player demand. With this update, we’ve added some new functionality that makes it easier for you to:

  • Provide a reliable way to monitor the status of game session placement requests: Receive automatic notifications when your Queue session placement requests.
  • Streamline backend development: You can now subscribe to SNS notifications, eliminating the need to develop an API polling mechanism.
  • Benefit from a trusted GameLift feature. If you use GameLift’s matchmaker, FlexMatch, you are already familiar with notifications. This update brings the same capability to GameLift Queues.

Hi Game Devs. I wanted to provide an update that the Queue Notifications feature is now live in Beijing (BJS) region.

As a quick reminder, the new functionality this feature brings is as follows:

  • A reliable way to monitor the status of game session placement requests: Receive automatic notifications when your Queue session placement requests.
