Second Device for Multi Factor Authentication

0

I am using google authenticator as an MFA device. Is it possible to set up a second device as a backup? I am looking in 'Your Security Credentials/Multi Factor Authentication' and it looks like only one is allowed, but I am not sure.

Yes. When creating adding the MFA device, capture a copy of the QR code and use the QR code on any device you want. Keep in mind that the QR code is the secret key that generates the code and you must protect it accordingly.

If you have both devices, just point both to the same QR code in the normal process. However, if you save or print the QR code, take appropriate steps to secure that image and destroy the copy when you no longer require it.

You can simply export from Google Authenticator at any time to another mobile device, i.e. don't need to save your original QR code.
