Codewhisperer in jupyter labs: unable to get it working.

0

I have completed the installation process of the extension successfully. Shows up OK, and ready on the Jupyterlab interface and also when I check installed applications. Completed the BuilderID process and got OK messages all through.

But, in my Jupyter notebook, it does not work. Even with opt c, manually calling it.

While searching for solutions, read somewhere that for extensions to work, you need NodejS installed. Is that true for Codewhisperer. I do not have Node installed.

What could the issue be?

Hi,

I'd would suggest you to watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJaHPWX-4C4

Its first 3 mins are a fully detailled installation guidance.

In particular, around 2min30s, it explains how to connect JupyterLab's CodeWhisperer extension to AWS cloud in order to the reach the AI engine. Did you exactly do what is shown in your own install?

Best,

Didier

  • Yes Didier, that video was my starting point, I have sussecfully gone through all the steps. Completed the Builder ID process successfully and even got the check mark next to the code whisperer on the JupyterLab interface (bottom footer). Even in the installed extensions, it shows up all enabled. All good.

But when I open a notebook and start working.... nothing. no suggestions. even on invoking it manually.

update: installed nodejs and got it to work.

but,

is acting very moody, needs 4-5 manual invokes to give a suggestion

and the suggestions are very bad,

will keep trying.
