You can export reputation metrics (bounce rate and complaint rate) for individual configuration sets to CloudWatch, which gives you more granular control over monitoring your sender reputation than the account-level metrics.
To enable reputation metrics for a specific configuration set:
- Use the
UpdateConfigurationSetReputationMetricsEnabledAPI operation through the AWS CLI:
aws ses update-configuration-set-reputation-metrics-enabled --configuration-set-name YourConfigSet --enabled
(Replace "YourConfigSet" with your configuration set name)
-
Once enabled, Amazon SES will export reputation metrics for that specific configuration set to CloudWatch.
-
In the Amazon SES console, you can then view these metrics by:
- Going to the Reputation metrics page
- Selecting the Configuration set tab
- Choosing your specific configuration set from the dropdown
This will show you summary, bounce, and complaint data specifically for emails sent using that configuration set.
For more granular tracking by campaign ID or other dimensions, you'll need to create separate configuration sets for each campaign or use the CloudWatch metrics that are exported when you enable reputation metrics for your configuration sets. The metrics will be organized by the configuration set, allowing you to track reputation metrics for different email campaigns or categories separately.

Hey,
To clarify: you can't see bounce and complaint metrics, even though you've already configured an event destination in your configuration set to collect bounce and complaint events.
IMO, bounce and complaint events have not occured, which is why you can't see those metrics. Once bounce or complaint events are triggered, you should be able to see those metrics broken down by your campaign ID.
I also break down the Cloudwatch metric by campaign ID, bounce and complain events are collected correctly.
