Tutorial is out of date

Has anyone done this tutorial before. I have been working on it for 2 weeks and so many aspects of it are outdated. The amount of errors I have been coming across are too much, I can't even progress pass the second module. This is ridiculous. has anyone have a similar experience? I don't know what to do here.
