AWS Q Business app with Jira plugin - Issue with jira authentication

0

Hi, Q Business app is responding back with authentication issue with Jira and Jira plugin configuration is done as per aws documentation (Jira oauth2.0 integration)

Both Client id, secret key from Jira are updated in Q Business app using aws secret manager

But the response from Q business app is showing as authentication issue from Jira. Looks like this is due to Jira but would like to know if anyone has faced this issue and if so, how did you resolve the same. Thanks for your support

When facing authentication issues with your Amazon Q Business Jira plugin, there are several aspects to check in your configuration:

  1. Verify your OAuth 2.0 setup:
  • Ensure you've correctly entered the Jira client ID and client secret in AWS Secrets Manager
  • Check that you've properly configured the OAuth 2.0 application in the Jira Cloud developer console with the appropriate scoped permissions
  1. Confirm your domain URL format:
  • For Jira Cloud, the domain URL should be in the format: https://api.atlassian.com/ex/jira/yourInstanceID
  • Make sure you've retrieved the correct instance ID (Cloud Site ID) from your Jira instance
  1. Validate your OAuth 2.0 configuration details:
  • Access token URL should be https://auth.atlassian.com/oauth/token
  • Authorization URL should be https://auth.atlassian.com/authorize
  • Redirect URL should be <q-endpoint>/oauth/callback and this must be allowlisted in your Jira application
  1. Check IAM permissions:
  • Ensure Amazon Q has the proper service access IAM role to access your Secrets Manager secret
  • The IAM role should have the secretsmanager:GetSecretValue permission for the specific secret ARN
  1. Verify the Jira plugin configuration:
  • If you're using the AWS Management Console, ensure you selected "Create a new secret" and entered the correct Jira client ID and client secret
  • If you're using the API, make sure you provided the correct ARN of your existing secret

If the issue persists, you might want to check your Jira logs for any authentication errors or consider regenerating your client ID and secret in Jira and updating them in AWS Secrets Manager.
