FreeStorageSpace graph for RDS instances

0

Hi re:Post, We have noted this metric FreeStorageSpace as viewed in a graph for a our RDS instance "db-demo":

Enter image description here

It's displaying 100G Free. Is there a way to verify this because we checked a few other databases (4) and they all display 100G Free which is a odd as several of the db's are a couple of years old and 100G is what they were provisioned with when they were created.

Thank you for your time and help!

Best Regards, Donald

The FreeStorageSpace metric in Amazon RDS shows the amount of available storage space. If all your databases are showing 100GB free, it could be due to data deletion or Storage Auto Scaling. You can verify the FreeStorageSpace metric by checking the RDS Console or creating CloudWatch Alarms. If you’re still unsure, consider reaching out to AWS Support for further assistance.

  • Thank you for your quick reply and help Giovanni ! I'm going to poke around and see if we have "Storage Auto Scaling" enabled on our RDS instances! Best Regards, Donald

Update: It's found under Instance > Configuration: " Storage autoscaling Enabled "
