INVALID_PAYMENT_INSTRUMENT

-1

Respect sir/madam,

I have created few days ago a new aws account. I am eligible for free tier, but there I found I am not eligible for most of the AI services. I need bedrock bedrock for my work .So I upgraded to paid plan, but when I request to access a model from bedrock catalog I got error: INVALID_PAYMENT_INSTRUMENT. So I verify my payment method but thats not work. Then I change my payment method and verify it, still I got the same error. Kindly guide me and if the problem lies to your end kindly resolve it as soon as possible.

Best wishes, Anurag Sharma

When you encounter an "INVALID_PAYMENT_INSTRUMENT" error while trying to request access to Amazon Bedrock models, there are several potential issues and solutions to consider:

  1. Payment Method Verification: Even though you've verified your payment method, there might still be issues with how AWS is processing it. Sometimes there can be a delay between verification and when the system fully recognizes the payment method as valid.

  2. Account Restrictions: New AWS accounts sometimes have temporary restrictions on certain services, especially AI services like Amazon Bedrock, which require additional verification.

  3. Regional Availability: Amazon Bedrock models are primarily available in specific regions, mainly US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon). Make sure you're requesting access in a supported region.

  4. Model-Specific Access: Different Bedrock models have different access requirements. Some models might require additional approval beyond just having a valid payment method.

  5. Billing Issues: There might be an issue with AWS's billing system processing your payment method, similar to issues some users have experienced with other AWS services like Skill Builder subscriptions.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Double-check that you're in a supported region for the specific model you're trying to access.

  2. Wait 24-48 hours after verifying your payment method, as sometimes there's a processing delay.

  3. If the issue persists, you should contact AWS Support directly. This appears to be a billing-related issue that might require direct intervention from AWS.

  4. When contacting support, provide details about which models you're trying to access, the regions you've tried, and the payment methods you've attempted to use.

Some users have reported similar issues where AWS's billing system fails to properly process verified payment methods, requiring support intervention to resolve.
