How long OpenJDK Docker Image will be available in Amazon ECR Public Gallery ?

0

Our application pull OpenJDK Docker Image from Docker Hub (https://hub.docker.com/). We found same Docker Image was present in Amazon ECR Public Gallery (https://gallery.ecr.aws/docker/library/openjdk)

Docker Image - public.ecr.aws/docker/library/openjdk:8-jre

According to Docker Hub Note https://github.com/docker-library/openjdk/issues/505 they are going to remove this docker Image very soon may be Oct 2022.We wanted to confirm that Amazon ECR Public Gallery will going to remove or it will be available even though it will remove by docker hub ?

Hi

Image: docker/library/openjdk is maintained by the Docker Community and as per the Deprecation Notice as seen on Amazon ECR Public Gallery, this image is officially deprecated and all users are recommended to find and use suitable replacements ASAP. Some examples of other Official Image alternatives (listed in alphabetical order with no intentional or implied preference):

amazoncorretto
eclipse-temurin
ibm-semeru-runtimes
ibmjava
sapmachine

See docker-library/openjdk#505 for more information.

The only tags which will continue to receive updates beyond July 2022 will be Early Access builds (which are sourced from jdk.java.net), as those are not published/supported by any of the above projects.
