GovCloud Eligibility

-2

Hi. I'm with a small start-up. We will be working with the US government. I tried to create a GovCloud account but I'm being stopped almost immediately.

Below are the requirements and we're good on all three items, however when I try to start the process of applying for a new account on GovCloud it denies me immediately stating I don't meet the requirements. Is it doing some sort of validation step like checking for our company name in a database or something? I'm getting no help from support on this.. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Before proceeding with AWS GovCloud (US) sign-up, verify you meet these mandatory requirements

  • Account holder must be a US entity incorporated to do business in the United States and based on US soil
  • Account holder must be a US Person defined as a US Citizen or active Green Card holder
  • Account holder must be able to handle International Traffic and Arms Regulation (ITAR) export controlled data
  • You also have to be in good standing with your AWS account estate. GovCloud access is tightly monitored, brand new startups with no relationship with AWS no noticeble revenue will probably get denied until you have relevent revenue.

AWS uses automated controls to prevent the creation of fraudulent accounts, which can sometimes cause legitimate new account creations to be denied. If you believe your request was denied in error and you meet all the eligibility requirements, you should contact AWS Customer Support for additional assistance with account creation.

When you reach out to support, be prepared to provide documentation that demonstrates your company meets the three eligibility requirements: that your company is a US entity incorporated to do business in the United States and based on US soil, that you as the account holder are a US Person (US Citizen or active Green Card holder), and that your company is able to handle ITAR export controlled data.

The automated validation system may be flagging your account creation attempt for various reasons beyond just the basic eligibility criteria. AWS Support should be able to review your specific situation and help resolve the issue so you can proceed with creating your AWS GovCloud (US) account.
