Yes, there are options available that can help address your situation, although they may not exactly match your specific request to pay until a certain date.
AWS offers a feature called Advance Pay that allows you to deposit funds into your AWS account in advance. This could be used to cover the costs until the handover date. Here's how it works:
- You can add funds to your AWS account using Advance Pay.
- These funds will be automatically used to pay invoices as they become due.
- You can add as much money as you estimate will cover the costs until the handover date.
To use Advance Pay:
- Sign in to the AWS Management Console
- Open the AWS Billing and Cost Management console
- Navigate to the Payments section
- Select the Advance Pay tab
- Choose "Add funds"
- Enter the amount you want to add in US dollars
- Select your payment method (note: this must be a bank account or electronic funds transfer, not a credit card)
- Review and confirm the transaction
It's important to note that Advance Pay is currently in public preview and has certain eligibility requirements. It's only available for accounts with AWS Inc. as the seller of record and for payments in USD.
Another option to consider is using Amazon EC2 Capacity Reservations. While this doesn't directly solve the payment issue, it allows you to reserve capacity for a specific future period. You can create future-dated Capacity Reservations up to 120 days in advance, specifying the capacity needed, start date, and minimum duration of use.
For the credit card issue, you'll need to work with your client to ensure they have a payment method in place before the handover. You might consider removing your credit card from the account just before the handover, ensuring all outstanding balances are paid, and having the client add their payment method immediately upon taking control of the account.
Remember to coordinate closely with your client to ensure a smooth transition of the account and its associated costs.
