Is the AWS Pinpoint SDK intended to only be used by a mobile app (iOS/Android) or a web client?

A project that I am working on has a feature to be implemented to send data to AWS Pinpoint from the API layer of our application. The presumption is that there are multiple clients (websites/mobile apps) that interface with this API layer and that it would make sense to send that data to Pinpoint from the API layer that is central to all of the interactions across the clients. Almost, all of the documentation that I see regarding the AWS Pinpoint SDK appear to refer to iOS/Android or web/React Native implementations. Are there people that interact with Pinpoint from a backend/microservice application? Is this not a desirable implementation? Would there be any problems in that type of implementation?
