Accidentally purchased reserved EC2 instance with wrong operating system

0

I purchased a reserved EC2 instance (ID: 0ee84e87-5e41-45ca-b636-581deac6281b) as Linux but I realized I needed Windows.

Next, I purchased the correct Windows reserved instance.

Now I need to cancel the incorrect Linux EC2 reserved instance (0ee84e87-5e41-45ca-b636-581deac6281b). Can support do this for me?

p.s. When I go to sell the reserved instance, it is recommended to sell it for $1.01, which seems odd. Is that normal? It has 12 months left on it (less than 1 day used and never applied.)

  • Hi! What happened with your wrong reservation? Did you open AWS support ticket and if so, did they allow you to cancel the wrong reservation or modify it to the correct region? I'm in a similar situation and opened a support ticket but still waiting for their decision. That is why I'm curious about the outcome.

You can try and raise a support ticket with all the information explaining what’s occurred. AWS may cancel this for you.

Hiiii.......

You cannot cancel a reserved instance, but you can sell it on the AWS Reserved Instance Marketplace. The suggested price might seem odd, but it's based on demand and other sellers' pricing. Contact AWS Support for assistance if needed... My suggestion is to contact AWS support team then you can find a solution to this .

Agree with Gary. If you only have Basic plan, open an Account and Billing support case.
