Do I have to re-provision my panorama appliance to re-assign network connectivity configs, which are part of the provisioning?

  • I have 1 panorama device: Lenovo SE70, set up as per:
  • I have 3 field settings with different IP networks, and I want to be able to move my 1 appliance between them, without re-doing workflows from setup & deployments
  • I set up initial field location (lab1) with DHCP, and provisioned/registered successfully, upgraded the appliance software, added some cameras, deployed the samples, configured the samples, all working as expected, etc.
  • for that pano device, I have a number of deployments:
    • unused deployments end up in a removed list & can be redeployed (not tried)
    • it is easy to add & remove multiple cameras using the AWS console, adjusting IP settings, etc.
  • I want to move my 1 pano appliance to other field settings: lab2 & lab3
    • I may need to manually change IP subnets, or even use static IP; all I can find wrt. making this change is: Step 6 of Registering an appliance. It states:
      • If you need to manually assign an IP address, NTP server, or DNS settings, choose Advanced network settings

If my field site target subnets are all using DHCP, will the current pano appliance provisioning along with certificate bootstrapping work transparently?

Do I have to re-provision my panorama appliance to re-assign network connectivity configs? Are there any cli commands available? How can I access these settings post-registration, without having to go through a reset/register/provision/update-software cycles?

I want to be able to bounce between different field labs.

Hello,

Thank you for using AWS Panorama.

Looking at the above query, I understand that you would like to know if you have to re-provision your panorama appliance to re-assign network connectivity configurations, which are part of the provisioning as you have 3 field settings with different IP networks and you want to move your pano appliance to other field settings.

You might need to manually modify the IP subnets or utilise static IP addresses to relocate your Lenovo SE70 Panorama Appliance between various field configurations without having to redo operations. As long as the new field site subnets use DHCP, the provisioning procedure and certificate bootstrapping should continue to function transparently.

During the provisioning process, select "Advanced network settings”[+] if you need to manually assign IP addresses, NTP server settings, or DNS settings. You can then define the network connectivity configurations you want.

You should be able to access the network settings after your Panorama Appliance has been registered and provisioned without needing to reset, register, provision, and update the software. The Panorama Appliance's CLI (Command Line Interface) commands can be used to change the network settings. Depending on the particular version and configuration of your Panorama Appliance, the exact commands may change.

You should be able to swap your Panorama Appliance between various field labs by manually modifying the network settings using CLI commands without having to reset or re-provision the device.

To further understand the issue more in depth as I have limited visibility on your setup, I'd recommend you to reach to AWS Support by creating a support case[2] so that the engineer can investigate further and help you overcome the issue.

  • Thank you for the nice hint about the panorama cli.

So I get that I can run things like:

    aws panorama describe-device --device-id device-<etc1234>

Are you able to point me to an example using the cli to change the provisioning for the network IP of device, from DHCP to static IP?
