How to find the data transfer allowance assigned to an existing Lightsail instance?

0

The Instance tab only shows RAM, CPU and Storage. It seems the specs for new Lightsail instances have been changed including CPU count. Once the pricing page there is a note for CPU which says "Virtual servers created on or before June 29, 2023 have 1 vCPU". However it does not mention anything about data transfer allowance for old instances, weather it will retain old data allowances or allowances will be capped to the new limits?

Hi,

There is an asterisk and a note wrt vCPU count change because that was a value that changed at that time. There is no such similar note wrt DataTransfer allowance because those allowances did NOT change for newer bundles. The DataTransfer allowances showed on https://aws.amazon.com/lightsail/pricing/ are what are applicable to both new and existing/older Lightsail instance bundles.

If you match the RAM/Memory spec displayed for your instance on the console with that on the above pricing information page, the corresponding DataTransfer allowance is what is applicable for your instance. For example, if the RAM/Memory of your instance on console is 512 MB, that bundle has 1 TB DataTransfer allowance in most regions (exact regional values are listed on the pricing information page).

We have also noted your feedback on the DataTransfer spec being potentially useful to be displayed on the console as well.

Thanks.

The note "Virtual servers created on or before June 29, 2023 have 1 vCPU" means that any Lightsail instance set up before this date was provisioned with a single virtual CPU, regardless of the other specifications. It's probable that instances created before this date will retain their existing plan's features, including data transfer allowances, but for precise details and any potential changes to your plan, it's advisable to consult the detailed FAQ provided by the service at https://aws.amazon.com/lightsail/faq/#Billing_and_account_management.
