m6a.24xlarge instance keep rebooting every 2 to 3 hours

0

Hi, I have the linux centos instance running on m6a.24xlarge, it reboots every 2 to 3 hours. If i change the instance type and run it on m6a.12xlarge it works fine, no reboot. What could be the reason of m6a.24xlarge keep rebooting? I checked the logs inside the VM, there is no indication or reason of its reboot. Let me know if somebody saw similar behavior or know how this could happen. Thanks

Hello,

Did you check the status checks using CloudWatch metric? Is it failing instance/system status checks before reboot?

Have you checked the performance metrics like cpu, memory, network in and network out usage of the instance. Do you observe any resource crunch?

Have you checked the cloud trail logs. Are you able to view the “Rebootinstances” API call to check if the reboot is triggered from any scheduler?

Please refer the below link which addresses various causes that could trigger unexpected reboot: https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/ec2-instance-automatic-reboot-cause
