can't connect using browser based ssh client

I get a message saying I can't connect because the host key does not match record. I have not changed anything on my instance and I have not requested a new key, I am still using the default given when first creating my instance.
It is giving me an option to reset record and that is it.
Why am I getting this message, why would the host key have changed without any actions on my part, and what does it mean to reset record.
