Restore data from a recycle bin

0

Hello guys,

We are using WordPress and the Plugin WP-Offload Media to synchronize all the data like images, videos and so on to the AWS Bucket. We have cloned our website. On the cloned website, we forgot to change the bucket and deleted all files in the media library. As a result, all the files on AWS are no longer there, even for the original site. Is there any way to undo this? Does AWS have a recycle bin or something, or is this all lost forever?

Unfortunately, we do not have a backup. Is there maybe a possibility anyway? A recycle bin that keeps the data for a few days? Thanks a lot! It is very critical for us :-(

Hi, is your S3 Bucket versioned? If yes, you can recover files deleted in S3: see https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/s3-undelete-configuration

S3 versionning: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/userguide/Versioning.html

An additional chance is the trash bucket of WP if active on your system: https://wordpress.com/support/trash/

Good luck in your recovery!

  • Hi Didier, fortunately the WP-Offload Media Plugin was set to store a copy of the data locally on the server. We have therefore restored the backup from the server from last night and synchronized all data back to Amazon. Thanks for the quick reply :-)
