I have a domain name that is hosted at a not so great DNS host provider. The domain name ends in ".us.com".

Will I be allowed to transfer a .us.com domain into AWS Route 53?

It doesn't appear so. Here is the document that can provide which domains are transferable to Route 53 - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/registrar-tld-list.html#U
