Canvas overbill issue

Guys - cmon. There are so many issues with confusing Canvas billing. I was also a victim of the "Canvas left running at $1.90 per hour" like many others. The way Canvas is launched from the new Studio is fine, but then NOT shutting down my Canvas instance when I shut down Studio is indefensible. Its just poor UX - not intuitive at all - and the penalty goes to the customer!

I am not a beginner - I have worked almost daily with AWS since 2016 and have multiple AWS certs - including AWS SA Professional. I also teach for AWS Academy.

I created a case and AWS sent back some long-winded standard checklist for me to respond to. Can someone at AWS do better than this for its customers?

I am sorry for your experience and can understand the frustration. Just a reminder that re:Post is a community forum. No one here, even AWS employees, will be able to help you with billing issues. I would recommend reopening the support case and asking to escalate it.

  • thanks @iBehr - ur probably right. I have been a dedicated, long-term user and investor in AWS. Between the sprawling, disconnected and often obsolete documentation along with the ML services that emerge seemingly without organization or a roadmap, I am struggling to defend this AI/ML platform. I hope someone puts some product-centric control over this thing before you know who takes over the world
