AWS OpenSearch and CloudWatch Agent Install

0

Can CloudWatch agent be installed on AWS OpenSearch Service underlying EC2 instances? Since AWS OpenSearch is a managed services and it emits its own rich set of metrics and customers don't see them as EC2 instances in their consoles and don't have access to the underlying EC2 servers, they won't be able to install CW Agent I believe, right? I can't seem to find any documentation for CW Agent being able to be installed with AWs OpenSearch EC2s.

Hello.

As you know, OpenSearch Service is a managed service, so it cannot connect directly to the underlying OS, so you cannot install CloudWatch Agent etc.

CloudWatch metrics that can be checked with OpenSearch Service are described in the following document.
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/opensearch-service/latest/developerguide/managedomains-cloudwatchmetrics.html

Please check the log output settings as well.
