Visualizing Location data on a unique photo/area visualization

Edited Question: I have animal movement data and I need to show how the animals move around a habitat. Using lat/long data is possible, the locations are sometimes a few feet from each other..google maps or other online map services will not be able to provide any useful information about this space. I have considered putting the data over a photo of the habitat... Long story short, I have location data for a that I want to show how animals are moving in a relatively small space (a space that cannot be represented in a generic map).
