Redirection www to non-www in AWS Lightsail

0

I have a duplicate website the www. and the nacked version. I would like to redirect all traffic to the nacked link www to non-www traffic. I have updated the .htaccess file but it doesn't work.

Coding used: RewriteEngine Enabled RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.com/$1 [L,R=301]

It seems that changes to the .htaccess in Apache are handled differently... And the edits are not applied.

Could you advise me on how to handle the www to non-www redirection?

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the redirect issues. I believe one of the following will achieve your goal.

#1 - This sample redirects TO the www

RewriteEngine on

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.com [NC]

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [L,R=301,NC]

#2 - This alternative instead redirects away from www to the higher level domain

RewriteEngine on

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.example.com [NC]

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://example.com/$1 [L,R=301,NC]

Seems the Bitnami doesn't read the .htaccess file as none of the above code worked. Also I've got an issue with the Image Headers Expire, even though is also set in the file.

# BEGIN Imagify: webp file type
<IfModule mod_mime.c>
	AddType image/webp .webp
</IfModule>
# END Imagify: webp file type

# BEGIN WP Rocket v3.12.5.2
# Use UTF-8 encoding for anything served text/plain or text/html
AddDefaultCharset UTF-8
# Force UTF-8 for a number of file formats
<IfModule mod_mime.c>
AddCharset UTF-8 .atom .css .js .json .rss .vtt .xml
</IfModule>

# FileETag None is not enough for every server.
<IfModule mod_headers.c>

Do you know how I can fix this? Why the .htaccess is being dismissed?
