EC2 Windows Console Connection

0

I am a system admin and I have started to use AWS for our cloud solution, currently we are using Vultr. I have found how to connect to a Linux instance with the EC2 Serial Console and get into SSH but I was wondering on the AWS side is there a way to get a console view of a Windows machine GUI? I am looking for the same function as a "crash cart" so i can work in Windows if there is an issue. Vultr has an easy console connect button for any server and you get into your machine to see if during boot etc. Is there an equivalent for AWS? If this has been asked before, please point me in the direction of the answer. Thank you.

There is no console access for Windows instances from AWS console like you have in VMWare and HyperV. Afraid your out of luck

  • This answer above is correct, there isn't a way you can interact with the Windows console. But you can view a snapshot of the console screen, which may be useful in terms of finding out if the instance has fully booted to the login screen, or maybe even spotting an error message if it hasn't.

In AWS Console -> EC2 select the instance and choose Actions -> Monitor and troubleshoot -> Get instance screenshot
