stopping a codepipeline build does not stop the codebuild batch

when using "stop an abandon" in codepipeline for non batch codebuild projects ... the codebuild run is stopped. however in batch mode the codebuild runs continue after using codepipeline's "stop and abandon"

is this a known issue? is there a workaround?

going to codebuild and clicking "stop batch" is the simplest solution. this will fail that build in the pipeline
