AWS AMIs with extra snapshot attached

Question

We have a build process that creates Amis and in the process we attached aws snapshot with some installation media. The problem is that I have multiple Amis with extra snapshot that I would like to remove/disassociate. I couldn't find anything on the aws cli to do this on the ami itself without deregistering.

Answer

Am I correct in assuming that you are have extra volumes associate to an AMI that you do not want to be associated? Unfortunately you will not be able to modify the existing AMI. Your best option would be to create a new AMI after you have detached that volume from the instance.
