Denied AWS Certification Exam Due to Name Mismatch – Test Center Raised Case – Request for Free Reschedule

-3

Hi Team,

I am facing an issue with my AWS Certification exam and would appreciate guidance.

I had scheduled my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam, and I was physically present at the test center on the exam day. However, I was denied entry due to a name mismatch between my AWS Certification account and my government ID.

Details:

  • AWS account name: ***************
  • Government ID (Aadhar/Passport): ***************
  • The test center staff verified the issue and raised an incident case (Case ID: *********)

Actions taken:

  • I have raised a support case with AWS (Case ID: ***************)
  • I have updated my name in AWS Training profile, but it is still not updated in the AWS Certification (Alpine) portal due to system restrictions
  • I contacted Pearson VUE, but they responded with a generic message asking me to rebook and pay again

Current situation:

  • AWS support has escalated my case internally and forwarded it to the appropriate team
  • I am waiting for a final decision

Questions:

  1. In such cases where the candidate was present and the test center raised an incident, is a free reschedule or voucher typically provided?
  2. How long does AWS usually take to resolve such escalated certification cases?
  3. Is there anything else I should do from my side to ensure proper resolution?

Additional info:

  • I am ready to provide ID proof (Passport/Aadhar) for verification
  • My correct name should be: ***************

I would really appreciate any guidance or similar experiences.

Thanks in advance.

*Edit: Removed name and case ID. — Ben G.

I understand this is a frustrating situation. While I don't have access to specific information about your case resolution timeline or the exact policies for free rescheduling in name mismatch situations, I can provide some general guidance on AWS Certification exam policies.

For AWS Certification exams, it's critical that the name on your AWS Certification account matches exactly with the name on your government-issued ID that you'll present at the test center. This is a security requirement to maintain the integrity of the certification program.

Regarding your specific questions:

  1. Free reschedule eligibility: Policies for complimentary rescheduling or vouchers in cases of name mismatches vary depending on the circumstances. Since you've already raised a support case and the test center has documented the incident, AWS Support is the appropriate channel to determine if you're eligible for any accommodation.

  2. Resolution timeline: Response times for escalated certification cases can vary depending on the complexity of the issue and current case volume. Since your case has been escalated to the appropriate team, they will review your situation and respond accordingly.

  3. Recommended actions: You've already taken the right steps by:

  • Raising a support case with AWS
  • Updating your Training profile
  • Documenting the test center incident
  • Offering to provide verification documents

Continue working with AWS Support through your existing case. They have the authority to review your specific situation and determine the appropriate resolution. Avoid rebooking and paying again until you receive guidance from AWS Support on your escalated case.

The support team handling your case will have access to all the details and can provide you with the most accurate information about next steps and any potential accommodations.

Thanks for sharing your experience--we understand how frustrating that situation can be. AWS Certification follows strict ID verification requirements to ensure a secure and fair testing experience for all candidates. As outlined in our ID policy, the first and last name on the valid IDs presented must exactly match the first and last name used in your AWS Certification account.

If there are any differences (such as spelling variations or name order), candidates may unfortunately be denied entry to the exam. To help avoid this in the future, we recommend reviewing your certification account details and ensuring they match your ID before scheduling an exam. You can find more information about our ID requirements by visiting the During Testing (test day) policy page.
