The innodb_snapshot_isolation parameter in MariaDB 11.6.2 and higher is now set to ON by default, whereas it was previously OFF by default.
If you want to set this parameter to OFF on your RDS instance, please note that you cannot directly modify the innodb_snapshot_isolation parameter through the RDS MariaDB 11.8 parameter group. However, you can work around this limitation by setting it to "OFF" at the session level.
To implement this workaround, set the 'init_connect' parameter value to 'SET SESSION innodb_snapshot_isolation = 0;'. This will disable snapshot isolation for each new session.
Here are my observations after modifying the 'init_connect' parameter:
MariaDB [(none)]> SHOW SESSION VARIABLES LIKE 'innodb_snapshot_isolation';
+---------------------------+-------+
| Variable_name | Value |
+---------------------------+-------+
| innodb_snapshot_isolation | OFF |
+---------------------------+-------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
MariaDB [(none)]> SHOW GLOBAL VARIABLES LIKE 'innodb_snapshot_isolation';
+---------------------------+-------+
| Variable_name | Value |
+---------------------------+-------+
| innodb_snapshot_isolation | ON |
+---------------------------+-------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
You can implement this solution in your environment. I hope this helps
My team found that it isn't reliable across connection resets. Is there a way to request innodb_snapshot_isolation is added as a configurable global variable?

Addendum, its not currently part of the IsModifyable set of parameters. Is it possible to be added?
