Is it possible you're looking at the EC2 console for the wrong region?
Thanks for answering! good point! But the region is right and no EC2 instance seen. Needed this ASAP and can't seem to understand why I have received all those emails if the EC2 instance was never created to start with. Any other thoughts or do you think it usually takes this time to successfully launch.
I haven't used the Marketplace a lot, but generally you subscribe to a product and then launch instances as a separate step (at which point you start paying). Did the emails you receive relate to the subscription process or to instance launching?

Can you go into Cloudformation and check the resources and/or output section of the cloudformation template launched by the AWS marketplace. This should give you an indication if the EC2 instance was properly deployed or not.
