Domain registration impossible because our valid postcode "doesn't pass validation"

0

Hi All - I am attempting to register a number of new domains using Route53 but can't get past the payment details section because the form rejects our valid postcode, which to be fair does have additional characters with it being in the capital, i.e. XXNX NXX. I can't be more specific here other than saying it's a postcode and not a zip code.

How do others get around this? I could put the wrong postcode in, and it would pass the validation but would be incorrect. Tricky.

Many thanks in advance,

Anthony

I understand your frustration with the domain registration process in Route 53, especially regarding the postcode validation issue. This is a common problem that users face, particularly those with non-standard or international postal codes.

Unfortunately, AWS's validation system for domain registration can sometimes be overly strict or not fully accommodating of all international postcode formats. In your case, the additional characters in your capital city's postcode are causing the system to reject it, even though it's valid.

While it's not ideal, some users have found workarounds for this issue:

  1. Try removing spaces or special characters from the postcode. For example, instead of "XXNX NXX", you could try "XXNXNXX".

  2. If possible, use only the numeric portion of the postcode.

  3. As a last resort, some users have reported success by using a simplified version of their postcode that passes validation, even if it's not 100% accurate.

However, it's important to note that providing incorrect information, even for the sake of passing validation, could potentially cause issues with your domain registration or violate AWS's terms of service.

The best course of action would be to contact AWS Support directly about this issue. Even if you're on a Basic Support plan, you can still open a support case for domain registration issues under the Account and Billing category. Explain the situation to them, including the specific format of your postcode and the validation error you're receiving. They may be able to assist you directly or provide an official workaround for your situation.

Remember, AWS Support is the most authoritative source for resolving these types of account-specific issues, as they have direct access to your account information and can provide guidance based on your particular circumstances.
