Moving DHCP services to AWS

0

Hi All,

As part of an on-prem data center movement to AWS, I need to migrate existing DHCP services which are running in the on-prem data center to AWS. This DHCP service will serve all the remote offices of the customer. None of the Cloud providers do not support broadcasting, moving this service to Cloud is not a straight foward solution. Any pointers on this would be helpful.

Thanks SVen

This is fine, you do not need broadcast support. Easy solution..

Just ensure your Layer 3 Gateways on the onprem subnets that need DHCP have their IP Helper IP Addresses set to the DHCP Servers which are in AWS. The IP Helper is just a DHCP-RELAY. The routers pick up the DHCP requests and Forward via TCP (UNI CAST) to the DHCP Servers. So long as the Routers can route to your DHCP Servers, they will respond via TCP and not broadcasts..

I have run DHCP Servers for years like this (Windows) with Cisco equipment.
