Can't access bitnami wordpress server accept via ssh

0

As stated I can connect to my lightsail instance via the ssh button in the dahsboard. However if I try and access my site via its domains or even its public ip address I am met with a "This site can’t be reached". It used to be reachable and sometime in the last 3 days (according to the access logs) it has become unreachable. I've looked in the logs located at " /opt/bitnami/apache/logs" and the only error I see is " AH10244: invalid URI path" which seems to not matter since it was occurring before the site became unreachable.

Clearly I am missing something. Probably something obvious.

Based on your description, your Lightsail WordPress instance is running (since you can access it via SSH), but the website itself is not accessible. This could be due to several potential issues:

  1. Web server service might be down: The Apache or Nginx service that serves your WordPress site might have stopped running. You can check this by running the following command via SSH:
sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh status

If the web server is not running, you can try restarting it with:

sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh restart apache

or restart all services with:

sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh restart
  1. Database connection issues: WordPress might be unable to connect to its database. This is a common cause of WordPress sites becoming unavailable while the server itself remains accessible via SSH.

  2. Resource constraints: Your instance might be running low on resources (CPU, memory, or disk space), causing the web server to fail while still allowing SSH connections. Check your instance metrics in the Lightsail console.

  3. WordPress configuration problems: There might be an issue with core WordPress files or plugins. The error logs you checked don't show the relevant errors - you might want to also check the WordPress error logs, typically found in the WordPress root directory.

  4. DNS issues: If you're trying to access via domain name, there could be DNS configuration problems. However, since you mentioned that even the public IP address doesn't work, this is less likely to be the primary issue.

I recommend first checking if all services are running properly, then investigating potential database connection issues, and finally looking at resource utilization on your instance. If you find that your instance is consistently running out of resources, you might need to consider upgrading to a larger Lightsail plan.
