Getting charged for storage and can't find a way to turn it off.

0

Hi, I am getting charged small amounts each month for some storage that I am supposedly using. For the life of me, I can't find where to release that storage (which I don't need, I have no idea what's even stored there). Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's not about the money, but about the lack of control I perceive over my resource usage in general.

Best, Alex

  • We need a bit more detail here. Is it S3 storage? EBS Storage? Check your bill, it should be there.

Hi there. Difficult to answer without knowing what exactly you are getting billed for. If it is S3 storage it should be as simple as emptying the bucket in question. If it is for an EBS volume or a snapshot, then you'd have to go to the correct region in the EC2 console and remove the volume. Did you check in your bill what the exact wording of the line item in question is? And in what region the charge occurs? That should give you the right pointer where to look. You could also use the Cost Explorer to dive deep into daily usage (even hourly usage, if enabled) per service and identify exactly where the charge comes from. Hope this helps
